Ways to prevent nail fungus infection and re-infection.

Do you have a separate, clean trimming kit to treat your infected nails?

Experts from the Mayo Clinic, and the NIH agree, that one way to prevent nail fungus infection, or re-infection is to use your own sterile nail grooming products.

We recommend a separate grooming kit as part of your treatment because so many people share nail clippers with family members, and use the same nail clipper on the infected nail as the other nails, increasing the likelihood of spreading the infection.

We chose to offer our customers this kit because it is easy to keep clean, and keeps the nail tools dry, clean and covered, thus reducing exposure to bathroom bacteria.

Other ways to prevent re-infection include:

  • Keep nails clean & trimmed but do not trim too close to the nail bed.
  • Don't use infected nail trimmers on healthy nails.
  • Never share nail trimmers particularly at a spa or manicure establishment
  • Expose toenails to air whenever appropriate
  • Wear cotton socks to absorb excess moisture
  • Avoid wearing others shoes
  • Wear comfortable roomy shoes that can breathe
  • Wear shower shoes or sandals whenever you are using gym or other communal showers
